There is no ultimate goal or mission except to survive this zombie apocalypse. Those who've read the comic book are eager to see this show hit all the locations and milestones we know, so I think that made those viewers extra-anxious when it became clear Rick Grimes and his companions weren't going to be leaving Hershel's farm in any hurry. Pace was one, although I feel it's a bit overstated by some of the fandom. And yet… There were still some notable issues.

The Walking Dead remained a well-made, well-acted series with an innately compelling concept and moody, sad, emotional and yes, very gory, moments unlike anything you'd find on most other TV series. The Walking Dead: Kirkman on the Finale and What's Next All of which is to say that it wouldn't be shocking if what was onscreen was a bit of a mess or even an outright disaster. There was also an especially troubled episode early on where most of the footage was thrown out (which is how the premiere became an extended episode instead of two separate episodes), and the knowledge that Mazzara was finding his footing as the hastily crowned new showrunner in the second half of the season was hard to ignore. The show's creator and showrunner, Frank Darabont, was fired several episodes into the season - his successor, Glen Mazzara, has said the midseason finale, " Pretty Much Dead Already", was the first episode to have no input from Darabont.

Would Season 2 – the first time the show would have a full length (for cable) thirteen-episode season - find it truly kicking into high gear or would there be a sophomore stumble?
